I want each of you listening, whether you're a hiring medical director or a colleague, to consider this: When someone is going through a rough time, be it related to a child or an ailing family member, women physicians often bear a significant part of the caregiving responsibilities. While it's true that some men also take on these roles, and I commend them for it, the reality is that women are frequently the primary caregivers, not just for their children, but for their partners, in-laws, and other family members. We need to understand these dynamics and strive for greater equity. This means creating environments where both women and men have the opportunity to be present and available for their families during challenging times.
