As a physician, I've had the opportunity to delve into the world of medical management, including the much-dreaded process of prior authorizations. While it may be a thorn in the side of many of my colleagues, my experience has given me a unique perspective on the subject.
When I first started at a managed care organization, I was naive to the complexities of the prior authorization process. But as I dug deeper, I was shocked to see requests for services with no medical justification and a lack of adherence to best practices and guidelines.
This experience taught me the importance of staying informed and data-driven regarding our medical practices and the services that may require authorization. We can ensure that our patients receive the best possible care by staying informed and up-to-date.
