Breaking the stigma: why asking for help is crucial

Feeling ashamed about getting help is more common than you think.

There are worries surrounding the disclosure of mental health conditions, but there are changes happening.

About 25 states have revised their policies, and organizations like the Lorna Brian Foundation are actively lobbying Congress for better support.

We also have the Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act making strides in this area.

So, even if you feel hesitant, it's crucial to ask for help.

Tell someone how you're feeling, whether it's being really down or considering leaving.

Just find one person and know that it's ok to reach out.

How do you think we can further improve mental health support in our communities?

Jonathan Fisher is a cardiologist.
