Changing medical education to help rural communities

Can changing our medical education system solve the rural healthcare crisis?

Some states, like Illinois, are already taking steps to address this issue.

At the University of Illinois, there's a program designed to help students who want to practice in rural areas.

This program gives these students the tools and support they need, even if they aren't top-tier candidates.

The only condition is a commitment to practice in a rural area for 4 to 6 years.

It's a great way to incentivize new medical graduates to provide much-needed healthcare in underserved areas.

What are your thoughts on this approach?
