One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been the ability to utilize my medical degree in non-traditional ways. This versatility has paradoxically reinforced my dedication to primary care. Many physicians face demanding schedules, seeing patients for up to 60 hours a week and managing around 30 patients a day. These are the ones who often experience burnout. Through my discussions with thousands of physicians and my extensive reading on the subject, I've discovered that those who use their medical degrees to pursue their passions and diversify their activities tend to avoid burnout. They embrace roles that allow them to be more than just doctors, and it's this broader engagement that helps them maintain their well-being and professional satisfaction.
