As a hospice volunteer, I have had the opportunity to witness the unique beauty of end-of-life care. In this setting, the focus shifts away from aggressive medical interventions and towards the interpersonal connections and support that can bring comfort to those in their final days. I have been able to get to know the individuals in my care on a deeper level, listening to their stories, understanding their values, and attending to their subjectivity in a way that may not have been possible in a more traditional healthcare setting. It has been an incredibly enriching and rewarding experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this special aspect of healthcare.
