The nursing home industry faces a significant challenge in that staff can become desensitized to the frequent occurrence of death. When death is not taken seriously and becomes a routine occurrence, it's a concerning sign for the state of care being provided.
It's crucial to maintain a sense of empathy and compassion towards those in our care, and to never become immune to the importance and significance of a life lost. If this level of sensitivity is lost, it may be time to consider a change in profession.
