From numbers to patients: Why productivity isn't everything #shorts

As an orthopedic surgeon, I wasn't the most productive in terms of the numbers on the monthly reports, and it was tough to sit in meetings and feel ostracized for it. But I knew that focusing solely on productivity wasn't the way to provide the best patient care.

I refused to let financial worries consume me, comparing myself to my high school classmates who were still farming in Iowa. If I complained to them about not making enough money, they'd laugh in my face. This helped me stay grounded and focused on what really mattered: providing the best possible care for my patients.

While the pressure to produce results and meet financial goals can be intense in the medical field, it's important to remember why we became physicians in the first place: to help people. Sometimes that means prioritizing patient care over productivity. #PatientCareOverProductivity #StayingGrounded #PhysicianMindset
