Narcissist at work? Doctor's guide to setting boundaries

These individuals with narcissistic tendencies should not hold sway over your career path. They should not play any role in shaping your vision for patient care and your overall life. Personally, I cherish my wonderful life and question why I must endure such absurdity in the workplace. I am fortunate to have a loving husband who is also a physician, yet even he failed to recognize the extent of the situation.

We found ourselves entangled in this predicament, but you need not share our fate. You can cultivate a fulfilling life and a successful career, but it will likely require you to take charge of the situation. Understand that you may not be able to outright fix or resolve it. Therefore, consider adopting mindfulness practices, connect with your aspirations, document your goals, and bolster your CV.

In addition, I suggest formulating talking points and establishing boundaries. Refrain from engaging in gaslighting tactics with them, and avoid private meetings with these narcissistic individuals, as it could prove detrimental to your career prospects.
