Let me take you on a journey of self-discovery and share the pivotal moment when I realized I was facing burnout. It's funny how I never thought that words like "burnout" or "moral injury" would ever be associated with me. When I embarked on my path in primary care, my passion was unparalleled, and I was bursting with enthusiasm. I remember being the only one in my class who chose full-time primary care right after graduation. The fire in me was undeniable. But, surprisingly, within just three or four months, I began to feel the weight of burnout creeping in. Looking back, I remember brushing it off as mere overwhelm. After all, I had just transitioned from being a resident a few months ago, and I convinced myself that I had to make it work, no matter what. The first sign that something wasn't right was the overwhelming feeling of lacking autonomy. It hit me like a resounding gong, leaving me questioning whether I had control over my own path in this field. That realization was quite unsettling.
