I have this magic wand question, which sometimes I ask patients when I'm confused trying to figure out what's going on or how it can meet their needs. And the magic wand question is: “If I had a magic wand and I can do anything for you at this moment, what would it be?”
And I thought that she would say, “I wouldn't want have cancer,” but she didn't. And it had to do with the experience of dying. And a lot of it had to do with the fact that the idea of hospice, she was such a fighter, such a tough person, and. Kids and single mom, and she was such a fighter that the way hospice care was framed to her and comfort care to her seemed like giving up.
