When I first decided to pursue a career in healthcare, I knew that it would be a challenging field. But what drew me in was the opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives. And while the healthcare system can sometimes feel like a big machine, with electronic health records and other bureaucratic hurdles, I've found that by focusing on the little things, I'm able to provide better care for my patients.
One of the most important things I've learned as a healthcare provider is the power of presence. Whether it's taking a few deep breaths between patients to clear my mind, or giving them a few extra minutes to talk and connect, I've found that these small gestures make a big difference in how I'm able to care for my patients.
But it's not just my patients who benefit from this kind of care. I've found that by taking the time to be truly present with my patients, I'm able to nourish my own soul and remind myself why I became a healthcare provider in the first place. It's a reminder that, no matter how big the system may seem, it's the human connection that truly matters.
