Balancing clinical duties with administrative responsibilities is a challenge faced by many physicians in academia. An academic contract should provide adequate administrative time, but this is not always the case. With some contracts offering as little as 4 patient contact hours per month, it can be difficult to manage both clinical and administrative duties.
A standard starting point for administrative time is 8 hours per week, but even this can be demanding when combined with teaching duties and research. It's important for academic contracts to provide a fair balance between clinical and administrative responsibilities, so physicians can focus on providing the best care to their patients.
