Preparing to enter a patient's room for a challenging encounter, or gearing up for a complex procedure, I'd often pause just before crossing the threshold, taking a few deep breaths. As unremarkable as it may seem, this simple practice had a profound impact on me. You see, I'm usually the type to dash from one task to another, barely finding time to eat or tend to life's essentials. But this routine moment of stillness brought a newfound awareness to my life – it was real, meaningful, and spurred me into action. It marked the start of my journey into mindfulness.
