Dental burnout is a very real iissue. It's not always easy for people to grasp the physical toll that this profession can take on you, given the constrained space and the demands it places on your body. Even though I've stepped away from dentistry for a few years now, I can still feel the lasting effects and am working to undo the damage. When you're fresh out of dental school at 25, you often feel invincible, but the reality is different.
For dentists, there's both a physical and mental toll. And if you happen to be an entrepreneur running your own practice, it adds a whole new layer of challenges. So, yes, we dentists are indeed a subset of the broader healthcare spectrum, and we experience burnout in a similar fashion to physicians.
