When patients are dismissed by clinicians #shorts

“What were some of the things that health care clinicians would say to you in the past?”

On maybe the worst end of things, it was simply if my results did not come, it would just be, “I don't have anything. I should calm down and go away.”

I had one clinician asking me if I knew what a peer-reviewed study was, and I had to inform them that I, in fact, write those for a living. And on the other end, the better exchanges I had before I found a myeloencephalitis expert who could diagnose me and actually address what I was feeling, the better interactions I had were physicians who tried to troubleshoot with me. “I'm not sure what's going on, but what are you feeling? What is it that concerns you? What can we do about these things with what we know?”
